Librarian’s Day Seminar 2021
ADINET in collaboration with National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad will be conducting the seminar on 14th August 2021 Online. The seminar is held in commemoration of the birth anniversary of Dr.S.R.Ranganathan, Father of Library Science of India. The theme of the seminar is Current Trends in Academics: The Way Forward to Create Agile and Resilient Libraries
Sub-Theme 1
Sub-Theme 1 Current trends in imparting education Educational institutes across the globe have been witnessing disruptive technologies that are replacing physical spaces. To manage the change in VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity) world and the conditions brought upon by the pandemic, the physical (physical + digital) reality has been embraced for imparting education. With the current trends, the way educationists depend on libraries for imparting education, their expectations about future trends in libraries in accordance with the changing scenarios will be discussed.
Sub-Theme 2
Role of libraries in supporting education
Libraries have been considered as the activity hubs of educational/research institutes.They are integral parts of the academic and research institutes, disseminating information and managing the knowledge generated during various activities. Far-seeing the predominant conditions during and after pandemic, many libraries have shifted from physical to digital platforms, and some introduced innovative services to reach out to remote users.
Sub-Theme 3
Case studies of Agile and Resilient Libraries
It is important that libraries continually adapt to the ever-changing needs of the users. Also, the pandemic and the prevailing conditions, invoke the importance of building agile and resilient libraries. It is a holistic approach where library organization structures, staff roles, and fundamental goals need to be reworked to manage change.
Sub-Theme 4
Role of institutional archives in supporting
It is a well-known fact that archives are centers for conservation and preservation of cultural and heritage materials that reflect variously histories. We are witnessing how materials and objects are being looked at again rupturing previous historical narrations, creating new micro narratives. Hence such spaces become conducive grounds for new research and writing. Though there are many initiatives from the Government of India and Gujarat for establishing archives, it is interesting to note that almost all premier institutes across the country are trying to set-up their archives for preserving institute memoirs and knowledge dissemination. While sub-themes 1 and 4 will be invited talks by experts, LIS professionals, and research scholars are invited to submit papers on sub-themes 2 and 3 that is based on initiatives and case studies from the said fields.
Papers are invited All LIS professionals who wish to submit a paper on the Seminar, theme are requested to do so before 1st July 2021.
Only original work with Keywords, Abstract, and Bibliographical references will be accepted. In-text, citation & references should be as per APA style.
